Wayne Theatre Celebrates 100 Years with the River City Radio Hour Reunion on January 23, 2026

Waynesboro, Virginia – On January 23, 2026 at 7:00 pm, the Wayne Theatre will celebrate a century of storytelling, performance, and community connection with a special event: The River City Radio Hour Reunion. This highly anticipated program brings beloved performers back to the historic stage in honor of the Theatre’s one hundredth anniversary and tenth year since reopening.

Hosted by the Wayne Theatre, The River City Radio Hour Reunion will showcase many of the acts that made the original show a community favorite. Returning performers include The Boogie Kings, Marsha Howard, the Hens of Renown, Kevin Chisnell, and additional surprise guests who helped define the Radio Hour’s signature blend of music, laughter, and heartfelt local storytelling.

In keeping with tradition, the evening will also feature a brand-new original radio serial performed live on stage, written exclusively for this centennial celebration. Audience members will enjoy an experience that blends nostalgia with fresh creative energy, honoring both the history and future of the Wayne Theatre.

“Your attendance at this reunion directly supports the Wayne Theatre and our mission to foster the arts throughout our region,” said Tracy Straight, Executive Director of the Wayne Theatre. “This celebration is not just about looking back. It is about investing in the next century of artistic opportunity, education, and community impact.”

Since its establishment in 1926, the Wayne Theatre has served as a cultural anchor for Waynesboro and the surrounding region. Following its restoration and reopening in 2016, it has continued to expand programming in the performing arts, education, and community engagement. The 100th and 10th anniversary season highlights the Theatre’s legacy as a vaudeville venue, movie house, and now an energetic center for live performance and arts education.

The River City Radio Hour Reunion invites longtime fans and new audiences alike to mark this historic milestone with an evening filled with music, comedy, storytelling, and community pride. Proceeds from the event support the Wayne Theatre’s ongoing arts programming and educational initiatives that reach audiences of all ages across the region.
