Waynesboro, VA — November 14, 2024 — The Wayne Theatre is thrilled to announce that internationally acclaimed vocalist Belinda Davids will perform her award-winning production, The Greatest Love of All: A Tribute to Whitney Houston, for two spectacular shows on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. This world-class concert experience celebrates the legacy of Whitney Houston, with Davids delivering powerhouse renditions of the icon’s most beloved hits.
Belinda Davids, a South African-born vocal sensation, has captivated audiences worldwide with her extraordinary talent and four-octave vocal range, which places her among the most elite performers. Without any formal vocal training, she has performed professionally since the age of 14, achieving success across genres and around the globe. Her career includes performances on the BBC’s Even Better Than the Real Thing, Fox TV’s Showtime at the Apollo, and as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent, where she was praised for her “utterly spellbinding” rendition of I Have Nothing.
Since 2013, Davids has starred in The Greatest Love of All, a production that has toured extensively in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and more than 20 other countries. The show has sold out iconic venues such as London’s Hammersmith Apollo and brought Whitney Houston’s greatest hits to life with the addition of full orchestral performances in select locations.
Born in 1976 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Davids grew up in a gospel-influenced household. Overcoming the challenges of apartheid, she discovered music as her solace and passion. Inspired by artists such as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston, she developed a love for R&B and went on to release original music, earning a #1 single on the RiSA charts in South Africa. Davids later expanded her career internationally, performing in Dubai, London, and Hong Kong before settling in Los Angeles, where she collaborated with major artists including Keyshia Cole, Monica, and Johnny Gill.
Her life-changing opportunity to honor Whitney Houston came in 2013, when she was chosen from over 15,000 hopefuls to star in The Greatest Love of All.
